AOAC 2025 Vendor Presentation
Screening for EtO and 2-CE by HS-GC-MS/MS in Response to AOAC SMPR® 2024.005
Tuesday, August 26, Noon to 1:00 PM, Room: Pacific D

Ethylene Oxide (EtO) has long been recognized as an effective sterilizing agent. However, its carcinogenic properties have raised concerns. As a result, many countries have banned it for food sterilization, prompting global initiatives to monitor both EtO and its derivative, 2-Chloroethanol in food products.
In response to AOAC SMPR® 2024.005, Shimadzu has developed a robust and sensitive Dynamic Headspace GC-MS/MS method for determining EtO and 2-CE in food commodities, meeting all requirements outlined in the SMPR®. We invite you to an in-depth review of the SLV study submitted this year, and a discussion on our development process for EtO screening.
